Badal (1951) is a Hindi-language romantic action film directed by Amiya Chakrabarty and produced by Bhagwan Das Varma under the banner of Varma Films. The film stars Madhubala as Ratna and Prem Nath as the titular character Badal Singh, with notable supporting performances by Purnima, Agha, Randhir, and Hiralal.

The narrative centers on Badal Singh, a young man who turns into a rebel after his father is killed by a ruthless Jagirdar for failing to pay oppressive taxes. Embracing the role of an outlaw, Badal begins robbing the rich to support the poor, eventually becoming a folk hero among the villagers. In a bold act of defiance, he kidnaps Ratna, the Jagirdar’s daughter, but gains her trust and affection by pretending to be her savior. As their relationship deepens, the truth about their identities comes to light, leading to emotional conflict and powerful confrontations.

The film’s music, composed by the legendary duo Shankar–Jaikishan, features lyrics by Hasrat Jaipuri and Shailendra. The soundtrack includes evergreen songs such as “Duniya Badal Rahi Hai Aansoo Bahane Wale” and “Aaj Maane Na Mora Jiya” by Lata Mangeshkar, and “Main Raahi Bhatakne Wala Hoon” by Mukesh.
