Aag (1948) is a Hindi musical drama and the directorial debut of Raj Kapoor, who also produced and starred in the film. It was the first production under his R. K. Films banner and featured actors like Nargis and Premnath.
The story follows Kewal, a passionate young man devoted to theater, who dreams of starting his own company. Along the way, he faces personal and professional challenges, including the departure of his childhood love, Nimmi, and conflicts with his father over his career choices. Kewal teams up with Rajan (played by Premnath) to revive the theater, exploring themes of ambition, love, and sacrifice.
The film’s music, composed by Ram Ganguly with lyrics by Behzad Lucknavi and Deepak, includes memorable songs like "Zinda Hoon Is Tarah" and "Dil Toot Gaya Ji." While it had moderate box office success, Aag laid the foundation for Raj Kapoor’s renowned filmmaking career and his lasting partnership with Nargis.
