Bradshaw Crandell was a pioneering artist of Hollywood glamour, known for capturing beauty and life like no other. His career began with a Judge Magazine cover in 1921, leading him to become one of the most influential illustrators in the motion picture industry. From the 1920s to the 1950s, countless movie stars posed for him. Born John Bradshaw Crandell on June 14, 1896, in Glens Falls, New York, he gained fame through magazine covers for Collier’s, Saturday Evening Post, and Cosmopolitan, making him a household name. His artwork also defined Palmolive’s 1930s advertising campaigns. Renowned as one of the top “pretty girl artists” of his time, Crandell’s signature style blended romance, glamour, and sex appeal, epitomized in his iconic portraits of stunning blondes.
