Anarkali (1953) is a Bollywood historical romantic drama directed by Nandlal Jaswantlal. Based on the legendary love story of Prince Salim (later Emperor Jahangir) and the courtesan Anarkali, the film portrays their tragic romance that defied royal norms. Starring Pradeep Kumar, Bina Rai, and Ajit, it became one of the most iconic films of its time.

The story follows Anarkali, a court dancer who falls in love with Prince Salim, but their love faces strong opposition from Emperor Akbar, who deems her unworthy of royalty. Despite their determination, Akbar’s resistance leads to Anarkali’s heartbreaking fate. The film beautifully captures themes of love, sacrifice, and destiny, making it an unforgettable cinematic experience.

The film’s music, composed by C. Ramchandra with lyrics by Rajendra Krishan, features timeless songs sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Hemant Kumar, including the classic "Yeh Zindagi Usi Ki Hai." With V. Avadhoot’s cinematography and G.G. Mayekar’s editing, Anarkali remains a Bollywood classic, celebrated for its soul-stirring music and compelling storytelling.
