Barsaat (1949) is a Hindi romantic drama directed and produced by Raj Kapoor. It stars Raj Kapoor as Pran, a sensitive poet, and Nargis as Reshma, a village girl. The story contrasts Pran’s sincere love with the carefree Gopal (Prem Nath) and his brief affair with Neela (Nimmi). Set in Kashmir, the film explores love, heartbreak, and societal challenges. It marked actress Nimmi’s debut and was one of the first Bollywood films shot extensively in Kashmir.

The music by Shankar–Jaikishan, with iconic songs like "Hawa Mein Udta Jaaye" and "Barsaat Mein Humse Mile" sung by Lata Mangeshkar, remains a highlight. Barsaat’s success helped establish R.K. Studios, and its famous poster became the studio’s emblem. The film is a milestone in Indian cinema for its romance, music, and impact.
