Bhowani Junction (1956) is a British-American drama film directed by George Cukor, based on John Masters' 1954 novel. Starring Ava Gardner, Stewart Granger, and Bill Travers, the film is set in India during the final years of British colonial rule.

The story follows Victoria Jones (Ava Gardner), a half-Indian, half-British woman serving in the Indian army. Caught between two cultures, she struggles with her identity while developing a romantic connection with Colonel Rodney Savage (Stewart Granger), a British officer. As India's independence movement intensifies, Victoria must choose between loyalty to the British and the rising nationalist sentiment.

Produced by Pandro S. Berman, the film was shot in Pakistan and England, effectively capturing the colonial era's atmosphere. Freddie Young’s cinematography adds depth to its historical narrative. Bhowani Junction remains a significant adaptation, offering a compelling portrayal of India's transition to independence.
