This calendar by G. D. Paulraj for The Burmah Oil Company, is titled Shakuntala and Dushyanta. The image is set in a lush forest with large trees and blooming plants, depicting the famous couple from Hindu mythology. Shakuntala is portrayed as beautiful and gentle, adorned in traditional attire and jewelry, seated on a rock while holding a deer close to her. Dushyanta stands beside her, dressed as a royal hunter with a bow and arrow slung over his shoulder, gazing at Shakuntala with admiration and love. The deer symbolizes the innocence and purity of their love.

Founded in 1886 in Scotland, Burmah Oil became a major player in the South Asian oil industry. In the 1920s, the company partnered with Royal Dutch Shell to form Burmah-Shell Oil Storage and Distributing Company of India Limited. This collaboration focused on importing, storing, and distributing petroleum products across India. Together, they established a vast infrastructure that included pipelines, storage tanks, and service stations, shaping the oil distribution network and ensuring the widespread availability of petroleum products throughout the country.
