Capstan was introduced in 1893 by W.D. & H.O. Wills of Bristol. The brand gained popularity and entered the Indian market in the early 20th century, with factories set up in Calcutta and Madras. In 1910, the Imperial Tobacco Company of India ( now ITC) was established and later launched Capstan in India. In 1970, W.D. & H.O. wills merged with ITC, marking a key milestone in India's tobacco industry.
