Chhalia (1973) is a Hindi drama directed by Mukul Dutt and produced by Sudesh Gupta, starring Navin Nischol, Nanda, and Shatrughan Sinha. The film follows Shankar, a simple and honest man, who deeply loves Sunita. Their love story takes a tragic turn when the cunning Sharma deceives Sunita and marries her under false pretenses. Betrayed and abandoned, Sunita finds herself helpless, but Shankar supports her despite societal pressures. The story unfolds as he fights to prove his love and restore her dignity while confronting Sharma’s villainous schemes.

With a soulful soundtrack by R.D. Burman and memorable performances, Chhalia is a heartfelt tale of love, betrayal, and redemption. The film, running for approximately 110 minutes, was one of Nanda’s last lead roles in the 1970s.
