The poster features a graceful lady with vibrant orange hair, wearing an off-shoulder dress, a matching arm cuff, and multicolored bangles. As she blows butterflies from her hand, the scene evokes beauty and elegance. The packaging labels are displayed at the bottom.
Dubarry’s et Cie, established in 1916 by Harry William Kilby Pears in East Sussex, aimed to expand globally in the cosmetics and toiletries market. That year, it introduced Crème Shalimar in tube and glass jar forms, offered in three scents: A Bunch of Violets, Garden of Kama, and Persephone. By 1919, the brand also marketed “Powdrettes”—solid powders in stylish aluminium containers, crafted for export to India and known for their portability and preservation.
