Diwakar Karkare was a highly revered poster designer in Bollywood, regarded as one of the greatest in the field. An alumnus of the J.J. School of Art, Mumbai, his creative vision and masterful craftsmanship brought over 1,000 posters to life, including iconic designs for Waqt (1965), Don (1975), Sholay (1975), Silsila (1981), and Satyam Shivam Sundaram (1978). His career began with the poster for Bimal Roy’s Benazir (1964), and he stepped away from the industry after working on K. Vishwanath’s Eeshwar (1989).

Fakira (1976) is a Hindi-language action film directed by C.P. Dixit and produced by N.N. Sippy, featuring Shashi Kapoor as Vijay (Fakira) and Danny Denzongpa as Ajay. The film also stars Shabana Azmi, Asrani, and Aruna Irani in key roles, with music composed by Ravindra Jain.
The story follows two brothers who are tragically separated as children after a fire kills their parents. Vijay grows up to become Fakira, a fearless outlaw who steals from the wealthy to aid the poor, while Ajay becomes a dedicated police officer, unaware of his lost brother’s identity. As Fakira continues his daring robberies, Ajay is assigned to capture him, leading to a thrilling game of pursuit between the two.
