The poster features Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former Prime Minister of India, with details of his speech on March 8, 1972, at 7:30 PM at Bara Tuti Chowk. The Jana Sangh’s election symbol, the Diya (oil lamp), is displayed at the bottom, representing light, knowledge, and progress.
Founded on October 21, 1951, in Delhi by Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Balraj Madhok, and Deendayal Upadhyaya, the Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS) gained prominence in North India by 1967. Atal Bihari Vajpayee led the party as president from 1968 to 1972. The Diya remained its symbol until 1977, when BJS merged with the Janata Party.
