More Info
This lithograph, titled "Janak Pushp Vatika," published by Hemchander Bhargava, depicts Sita in regal attire, standing gracefully in a lush green garden, accompanied by her attendants. Nearby, Lord Rama and Lakshmana wander through the garden, marking the moment of their first meeting with Sita.
Pushp Vatika, was part of King Janak’s palace in Mithila and is a significant site in the Hindu epic Ramayana. It was here that Sage Vishwamitra brought Rama and Lakshmana to witness Janak’s swayamvara, where Sita would choose her husband. As Rama entered the garden to collect flowers for worship, he caught sight of Sita for the first time, and their divine connection was formed, leading to their legendary marriage.
