The poster by George T. Tait showcases Kashmir, featuring the majestic K2 rising from the misty Kashmir valleys. Snow-capped peaks contrast with an orange dawn sky above a serene lake, capturing both beauty and the mountain's deadly grandeur. The poster promotes the Indian State Railways in Kashmir.
The railways in India initially started as a private entity where eight railway companies, including Madras Railway, Eastern India Railway, Bombay Baroda, Great India Peninsula Company, and Central India Railway and they had the responsibility of managing railways. By 1907, the government took over all the rail companies and had then again leased them back to private owners.
