Krorepati (1961) is a Hindi comedy-crime film directed by Mohan Segal and produced by Om Prakash Saigal under the Saigal Brothers banner. The film stars Kishore Kumar as Kishanlal, a stuntman who is hired to impersonate his wealthy look-alike, a mentally unstable heir to a vast estate. As Kishanlal steps into this new role, he finds himself caught in a web of mistaken identities, deception, and unexpected challenges. The supporting cast includes Shashikala as Roopa, Kumkum as Meena, K.N. Singh as Diwan Hukumat Rai, and Anoop Kumar as Diwan Himmat Rai. With its mix of humor and suspense, the film creates an engaging storyline that keeps the audience entertained with comedic twists and thrilling moments.
The film’s music, composed by Shankar-Jaikishan with lyrics by Shailendra and Hasrat Jaipuri, adds to its appeal. The soundtrack includes memorable songs like "Pehle Murgi Hui Thi Ki Anda" by Manna Dey, "Kabul Ki Main Naar" by Geeta Dutt and Kishore Kumar, and "O Saajna Na Poochh Mujhse Pyar Kya Hai" by Lata Mangeshkar. Kishore Kumar’s lively performance, along with a well-crafted script, makes Krorepati a delightful entertainer from Bollywood’s golden era.
