Mahal (1949) is a classic Hindi-language supernatural thriller directed by Kamal Amrohi and produced by the renowned filmmaker, Himanshu Rai, under the banner of Bombay Talkies. The film stars Ashok Kumar and Madhubala in the lead roles, with a supporting cast that includes K. N. Singh, Leela Chitnis, and M. Ismail.

The story follows a young man named Shankar, played by Ashok Kumar, who inherits a grand, mysterious mansion after the death of his uncle. As he moves into the mansion, Shankar begins to experience eerie and unexplained events, including visions of a beautiful woman from the past. Over time, he discovers that the woman he is seeing is actually the ghost of his previous lover, who died under mysterious circumstances. Shankar's obsession with the ghost intensifies, leading him to uncover secrets that tie his past life to the haunting. The film weaves themes of reincarnation, mystery, and love that transcends time.

The film's music, composed by the legendary music director, Khemchand Prakash, features memorable songs like ""Aayega Aayega Aayega Aayega Aayega,"" sung by Lata Mangeshkar. The haunting melodies, paired with the eerie atmosphere of the story, contributed significantly to the film's success.
