Mughal-e-Azam (1960) is an epic historical drama directed by K. Asif and produced by Shapoorji Pallonji under the Sterling Investment Corporation banner. The film stars Prithviraj Kapoor as Emperor Akbar, Dilip Kumar as Prince Salim, Madhubala as Anarkali, and Durga Khote as Queen Jodhabai, with a supporting cast including Ajit, Murad, and Nigar Sultana. Set in the Mughal era, the film portrays the legendary love story of Prince Salim and Anarkali, a court dancer. Their forbidden love faces fierce opposition from Emperor Akbar, who believes it threatens the empire’s stability. This conflict between love and duty leads to a tragic yet unforgettable climax.

The film's music, composed by Naushad with lyrics by Shakeel Badayuni, features timeless songs like "Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya" and "Mohe Panghat Pe," sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Mohammed Rafi. Known for its grand sets, powerful performances, and iconic dialogues, Mughal-e-Azam was one of the most expensive Indian films of its time. Originally released in black and white, it was colorized in 2004 and remains a timeless classic of Indian cinema.
