This lithograph titled "Nanak Guru" published by Hemchander Bhargava, depict a beautifully detailed collage of the ten Sikh Gurus, with Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism, prominently seated at the center. He is accompanied by his devoted disciples—Bhai Mardana, playing the rabab (a stringed instrument), and Bhai Bala, holding a chaur (whisk fan), symbolizing reverence and devotion.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji (1469–1539) was a spiritual leader and reformer who emphasized the principles of Naam Japna (remembrance of God), Kirat Karni (honest living), and Vand Chakna (sharing with others). His teachings laid the foundation of Sikhism, promoting equality, compassion, and devotion to one God.
Surrounding Guru Nanak Ji, the other nine Gurus are arranged harmoniously—three positioned at the top and six at the bottom—each depicted with distinctive features and attributes, reflecting their spiritual and historical significance. Adding to the grandeur of the composition, two majestic elephants stand on either side of Guru Nanak Ji, symbolizing strength and wisdom. The artwork beautifully captures the essence of Sikh heritage, honoring the teachings and legacy of the ten Gurus.
