established in 1923. in Sivakasi is part of the larger history of the match industry in the region. Sivakasi, often referred to as the “Little Japan of India,” became a hub for match production in the early 20th century. The industry was pioneered by two enterprising individuals, A. Shanmuga Nadar and A. Ayya Nadar, who were inspired by a small Japanese match factory they encountered during a business trip to Calcutta.
