Prem Sangeet (1943) is a Hindi musical drama produced and directed by W.Z. Ahmed under the Shalimar Pictures banner, featuring Paidi Jairaj and Neena in lead roles. With music composed by S.K. Pal and lyrics by Bharat Vyas, the film chronicles the life of the legendary musician Tansen, tracing his journey from a gifted village singer to the royal court of Emperor Akbar, where he is honored as Sangeet Samrat.

The narrative follows Tansen, an orphan raised by his uncle, whose extraordinary singing talent enchants both people and nature, even influencing animals and plants. His miraculous abilities—calming a wild elephant and making trees bloom with his voice—capture the attention of the Maharaja, who summons him to the palace. There, his mesmerizing music earns him royal recognition, cementing his legacy as one of India's greatest musicians. Weaving together themes of love, devotion, and the divine power of music, Prem Sangeet stands as a timeless tribute to India's rich musical heritage. The film's standout song, "Kaun Hai Ye Dilruba", performed by G.M. Durrani, further reinforces its deep connection to Indian classical music.
