More Info

Rail Ka Dibba (1953) is a Hindi romantic drama directed and produced by Prem Narayan Arora under the All India Pictures banner. The film stars Shammi Kapoor as Sundar, Madhubala as Chanda, Sajjan as Mohan, and Om Prakash as Dr. Nirogi. The music, composed by Ghulam Mohammed with lyrics by Shakeel Badayuni, includes songs like "Paisa Ho Paas To" and "La De Mohe Balma Aasmani Chudiyan Ji."

The story follows Sundar, a kind-hearted but poor man who lives in an abandoned railway carriage. One day, he saves Chanda, a destitute young woman, from suicide and offers her shelter. There, she meets Sundar’s companions—Dr. Nirogi, a former magician, and Mohan, an unemployed man. Over time, Sundar and Chanda fall in love and secretly marry. However, tensions rise when Mohan also develops feelings for Chanda, leading to emotional conflicts that test their friendships and unity.

Upon its release, Rail Ka Dibba received mixed reviews. While Madhubala’s performance was criticized, Shammi Kapoor was recognized as a promising actor. Despite this, the film was a commercial success, ranking among the top-grossing films of 1953.
