Monkeys (Vanaras) sit on rocks, representing the Vanara army that would later help Rama. This scene is from the Kishkindha Kanda of the Ramayana, where Hanuman meets Rama and Lakshmana while they search for Sita. He takes them to Sugriva, who agrees to help only if Rama first helps him defeat Bali.
