More Info

This lithograph, titled "Ram Mahabir Pratham Milan," depicts the first meeting of Lord Rama and Hanuman in a lush green forest near a mountain. Rama and Lakshmana, carrying bows and arrows, Hanuman, their devoted follower, kneels at Rama’s feet in deep respect. Monkeys (Vanaras) sit on rocks, representing the Vanara army that would later help Rama. This scene is from the Kishkindha Kanda of the Ramayana, where Hanuman meets Rama and Lakshmana while they search for Sita. He takes them to Sugriva, who agrees to help only if Rama first helps him defeat Bali.
