The poster shows a woman in a pink dress seated on a garden bench, holding a bouquet, with flowers in her lap and a basket at her feet. A peacock stands beside her with open feathers. Trees, birds, a fountain, and a distant house complete the serene background.

Robert Barclay & Co., founded in 1818 in Glasgow, later became Barclay, Curle & Co., known for shipbuilding and marine engines. It was acquired in 1912 by Swan, Hunter and Wigham Richardson. James Finlay & Co., established in 1750 in Glasgow, was a major player in the tea and cotton trade. The company expanded into India with offices in Bombay and Calcutta and later diversified into shipping. While there may have been links to Robert Barclay & Co. through shipping arrangements, this is still under research.
