Vasudeo Hiralal Pandya (1896–1970) was an Indian artist born in 1896 in Lunawada, Gujarat. Initially a teacher, he moved to Bombay (now Mumbai) where he worked as a document copier. His artistic journey began as a hobby, and he created many notable works, including oil paintings and oleographs. His first significant work was a standing portrait of the Hindu deity Vishnu. Pandya’s artworks, especially those depicting Krishna, are highly valued and have been auctioned for significant amounts. He passed away in 1970.

Lever Brothers arrived in Kolkata in 1888, launching Sunlight Detergent Soap, embossed with “Made in England,” marking the beginning of branded FMCG in India. Their operations grew with the establishment of Hindustan Vanaspati Manufacturing Company in 1931, Lever Brothers Ltd. in 1933, and United Traders Ltd. in 1935. These entities merged in 1956 to form Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL).
