The poster depicts a coronation scene from the Ramayana. Lord Ram, in regal attire adorned with jewellery and carrying a bow with arrows, is seated on a throne beside Sita. His brothers stand behind him, while Hanuman sits reverently at his side. A sage ascends the steps with offerings, as the richly decorated court, featuring pillars, golden lion-figured steps, and peacocks, enhances the grandeur. Multiple deities in traditional attire gather to witness the divine occasion. The advertisement of Sunlight Soap is super imposed on the main print.
Lever Brothers arrived in Kolkata in 1888, launching Sunlight Detergent Soap, embossed with “Made in England,” marking the beginning of branded FMCG in India. Their operations grew with the establishment of Hindustan Vanaspati Manufacturing Company in 1931, Lever Brothers Ltd. in 1933, and United Traders Ltd. in 1935. These entities merged in 1956 to form Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL).
