More Info
Swiss Miss (1938) is a classic comedy film featuring the legendary duo Laurel and Hardy. Directed by John G. Blystone and produced by Hal Roach, the film follows Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy as mousetrap salesmen who travel to Switzerland, believing the country’s abundant cheese supply will create a high demand for their product. However, their plans quickly unravel when they are swindled out of their money and end up working as dishwashers in a hotel.
Their misadventures intertwine with the story of Victor Albert (Walter Woolf King), a composer staying at the hotel to seek inspiration for his opera while avoiding his demanding wife, Anna (Della Lind), a self-absorbed singer. When Anna finds him, she insists on securing a role in his opera, leading to a series of humorous situations. The film is filled with slapstick comedy, musical moments, and classic Laurel and Hardy antics. One of the most memorable scenes features the duo struggling to move a piano across a dangerous rope bridge, only to face a hilarious encounter with a gorilla.
