The Corsican Brothers (1941) is an American adventure film directed by Gregory Ratoff and produced by Edward Small Productions. Douglas Fairbanks Jr. plays twin brothers alongside Ruth Warrick, Akim Tamiroff, J. Carrol Naish, and H.B. Warner. Based on Alexandre Dumas' 1844 novella, the film is known for its action, suspense, and supernatural elements.
The story follows Lucien and Mario, twins separated at birth after their noble family is murdered by the tyrannical Baron Colonna (Akim Tamiroff). Lucien grows up among mountain bandits, while Mario is raised as a refined Parisian. Despite their different lives, they share a mystical psychic bond, feeling each other’s pain. As they reunite years later, they seek vengeance, but their mission becomes complicated when they both fall for Countess Isabelle Gravini (Ruth Warrick).
The film's musical score by Dimitri Tiomkin earned an Academy Award nomination. The Corsican Brothers received praise for its thrilling storytelling and Fairbanks Jr.'s performance, making it a standout adventure adaptation of Dumas' novel.
