More Info
This poster created by David Klein, promotes travel to India aboard Trans World Airlines (TWA) jets. The central focus of the poster is a grand, elaborately decorated elephant, adorned with jewels, vibrant fabrics, and intricate floral patterns.
TWA was founded in 1930 through the merger of Transcontinental and Western Air Express. In 1934, aviator and tycoon Howard Hughes invested in the airline. Following his investment, Hughes ordered 18 international Boeings and 30 Convair 880s. The airline faced bankruptcy in 1960. TWA’s service to India was limited to Bombay (now Mumbai), operating from January 8, 1947, until March 1975.
