This calendar features Warburton's Shirtings, Manufactured and Sold Exclusively by J. Simpson & Co. Manchester, 1909, "The Height of Perfection," Imported by Baijnath Juggilal, Calcutta. The image shows a Britisher piloting an zepplin while an Indian chauffeur drives an early automobile. In the background, the zeppelin flies above a tropical or desert landscape with palm trees and a city in the distance.
J. Simpson & Company, founded in 1796 by John Simpson and John Burton, operated cotton mills in Manchester. The Indian importers and distributors were Baijnath Juggilal, based in Calcutta.
